Authority, Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri.

Speaking during the meeting, the Director General of the Authority, Major Garba Yahaya Rimi retired, stated that the purpose of the engagement was to further strengthen security in vehicular movement across the state.

He emphasized the need for both the Authority and the dealers’ associations to maintain comprehensive records of all vehicles sold within Katsina State, noting that proper documentation is essential for safeguarding lives and property.

According to him, every motorcycle and tricycle sold must be properly documented by dealers, while KASSAROTA must equally maintain corresponding records to enhance traceability and facilitate investigations when necessary.

He added that the meeting was convened to deliberate on practical ways to sensitize members of the association and ensure collective responsibility toward improving security and maintaining peace in the state.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the Authority, Aminu Lawal Batsari, stated that as the regulatory body overseeing road traffic operations, Section 19 of the law establishing KASSAROTA grants the Authority the mandate to regulate the sale and documentation of vehicles within the state.

He stressed that road safety and traffic security begin from the point of manufacture, importation, and sale of vehicles, noting that effective collaboration between the Authority and dealers’ associations would significantly assist in tracking stolen vehicles and preventing cases of double registration.

Aminu Lawal added that the engagement was also aimed at understanding the existing registration procedures adopted by the associations at the state level if any, as well as the regulatory bodies they work with, in order to ensure compliance with the law while maintaining mutual respect and cooperation.

Responding on behalf of the motorcycle dealers, the Secretary representing dealers across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, Haruna Saminu Yandaki, commended KASSAROTA for its continuous collaboration with the association.
